Virtual Classroom

Why?

In Colombia, thousands of boys and girls suffer from chronic illnesses for which they are hospitalized. They can’t go to regular schools and are often isolated or restricted by conditions of epidemiological risk.

What do we do?

We guarantee the right of these boys, girls and adolescents to education by involving them in the school system during their treatment and hospitalization through classes and educational activities at the hospital. These “student-patients” take preschool, elementary school and high school classes, depending on their educational history and cognitive development.

In June of 2008, we began leading informal education programs for our beneficiaries, and since 2010, we’ve had the support of the Secretary of Education with formal education programs.
